The Gallipoli campaign was a major military campaign of the First World War on the Gallipoli peninsula in modern-day Turkey from 25 April 1915 to 9 January 1916. The campaign was a disaster for the Allies, with over 250,000 casualties on both sides. It was a major setback for the Allies and a significant victory for the Ottoman Empire.
